Despite that - I'm a fan of the Amazon Kindle Select program. I used it and it's paying off for me.

I co-author the technothriller series 'A Vested Interest'. It's a good series but we are relatively unknown authors and in the two years since our first book was released we sold a total of 11 - all of them on Amazon. Through Smashwords we sold nothing.

I convinced my co-author to give Select a try - after all 15% of nothing is still nothing. We gave away 2484 ebooks. Our position on Amazon Top 100 Free rose to #4 over the two days of the free promotion. The free book was quite long, 131,000 words, so we expected to see a rise in sales of the second and third books of the series after about 10 days. And rise it did! In the next 15 days we sold 147 books.

My conclusion? if you are an unknown author - try Kindle Select. Get the recognition and then withdraw from the Select program. We are still relatively unknown but our book sales are now rising and we still have 3 says of 'Select' promotion left.John Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06575901336277340191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7436915084701775452.post-88707809916006910102012-04-26T02:30:07.405-07:002012-04-26T02:30:07.405-07:00Inspiring, thank you! Love his way with words and his mindset. I grew up in Georgia and today fight the "southern" hex on writers vs publishers.. Readers expect southern authors to be either Gone with the Wind or Jeff Foxworthy.. of which I am neither. My hat is off to Bill for having the courage to "figure out" computers and teaching himself to write. The world will be a better place for it.. Thanks "old man".. you've got one more fan in your stack in me.Charles E.
