Why Summer/Winter?

Curious why we call it Summer/Winter?  Smashwords serves readers around the globe.  It's summer in the Northern hemisphere and winter in the Southern hemisphere.  Whether readers are looking for a great beach read or a something to warm their spirits in front of the fireplace, they'll find thousands of great ebooks in this sale.

Please help celebrate these authors by sharing links to the promotion with your friends on social media. If you find a bunch of great books in the sale, let your friends know!

Enjoy!.

  1. I'm always happy to have my eBooks in the annual sale and to find great deals. What is really awesome is that #IndiePrideDay falls on the start date of the sale. Happy reading and writing to all!

  2. Good idea but why ask authors to enroll a mere 24 hours before going life?

  3. Hi Michel. Since enrollment was invisible to readers until July 1 and the promo runs an entire month, we didn't see a lot of advantage to announcing much earlier. I'm curious - how far in advance would you like to be notified, and how would you have managed your promotion differently? Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi Mark,

The lead time doesn't have to be huge: 2 or 3 days is ample especially if it is before a weekend. I understand that technical books are not the largest category on Smashwords but i do know from the access logs on my blog that the intended public is most active on weekends.
But a single day is just too short if you are a parttime writer and travelling around the world for my day job.

    Thanks,

    -- Michel.
